riverkids team

Our RiverKids program takes place on Sunday mornings for grades K-5. Ideally, all roles in RiverKids would work on a month long rotation, however some roles may work best as once a month service opportunities (ie storyteller). This means that, ideally, volunteer leaders work until the end of their monthly theme, giving them the opportunity to build on lessons and programs each week before a new theme is introduced the next month.

  • Check-in/check-out person

A friendly face to welcome children and register them for the morning program. This individual should arrive 10-15 minutes before the start of the service to help kids and their families know where to go and when to come in. They return 5-10 minutes before the close of the service to bring children to their parents, and check them back out.

  • Games guru

An energetic leader that can easily explain the activities and encourage engagement and participation. This individual will gather any necessary supplies, know how to relate the activity to the lesson, and put away all materials at the close.

  • storyteller

A dramatic and animated teacher who can bring life and meaning to the daily lessons. This person will work with Amy to prepare and create any visual aids/props that will enhance the story, as well as finding other individuals that may be needed to help with presentation.

  • Prayer Person

A confident speaker who is comfortable closing the program in prayer.

  • media person

An individual who has some understanding of tech/media, can move through any slide presentation that is prepared, and has some simple light and sound knowledge.

  • Snack helper

A responsible person who would like to plan and prepare snack for RiverKids, keeping in mind any allergies that might require alternatives or modifications.

  • small group leader

Intentional, loving, consistent caregivers who can spend time getting to know a group of 5/6 children on a deeper level after breaking from the large group time.
